Packing and unpacking
Full pack, partial pack or just the kitchen, using cartons that are made for the job.
Packing is where moves are won or lost. Two thirds of the damage we see on jobs we did not pack comes from half full cartons that collapse, or from crockery wrapped in tea towels instead of paper. A packed carton should be full, square and under 20 kilograms.
You can book a full pack the day before, a partial pack for the rooms you dread, or an unpack at the other end where we open cartons, place contents on flat surfaces and take the empties away with us.

Book cartons for heavy items, tea chests for light bulk, port-a-robes for hanging clothes, picture cartons for framed art and mirrors.
Butchers paper, not newspaper
Newsprint transfers ink onto crockery. We use clean butchers paper, bubble wrap for glass and foam pouches for stemware.
Room by room labelling
Every carton is labelled with the destination room and a short contents note, so the unpack starts with the kettle rather than the Christmas decorations.
Empty carton collection
Free flattened carton pick up within 21 days of your move, anywhere in the metro area.

Choose the scope
Full pack, partial pack, or fragile only. Most families book a fragile only pack plus a full kitchen.

Materials delivered
Cartons, paper and tape arrive two to seven days before, so you can start on the wardrobe and the garage.

Pack day
A packing crew works room by room, usually one day for a two bedroom home and two days for four bedrooms.

Unpack at the other end
Optional. Contents out, placed on benches and beds, cartons and paper removed the same day.

All questions and answersTransit cover for owner packed cartons, marked PBO on the inventory, is normally limited to loss rather than breakage, because the insurer cannot verify how the contents were wrapped. Cartons we pack are covered on the same terms as the furniture.
A rough guide from our jobs: 25 to 35 cartons for a one bedroom unit, 45 to 60 for two bedrooms, 80 to 110 for a three bedroom house. Our packing materials page sells them as kits.
For a studio or a one bedder, yes. Anything larger packs the day before, or the truck sits idle while the kitchen gets wrapped.
Defrost and drain the fridge 24 hours ahead. We disconnect washing machines and fit the transit bolts if you still have them, but plumbing reconnection at the new place is a plumber's job.
